Bristol Rovers Heritage Society and Supporters Club launch first ever Bristol Rovers virtual museum

We are delighted to announce the launch of the Bristol Rovers Virtual Museum. The museum showcases famous Rovers’ players of the past and many other special features delving back in time to the formation of the club in 1883.

This is the first time that there has been a museum dedicated to the club and it has been put together by the Bristol Rovers Heritage Society in collaboration with the Rovers’ Supporters Club who kindly offered to host the museum on their own website.

We hope that the museum will appeal not only to Rovers fans but also football fans in general and to City of Bristol historians and researchers as part of the city’s rich history. To enter the museum click here:

Special features include details and full football biographies of some of our greatest players, such as Geoff Bradford, Alfie Biggs and Harold Jarman. You will also have access to bios of all Rovers players who have appeared in the Football League and more.

We also present a gallery of Rovers’ programmes and match cards highlighting the oldest known issue dating from 1897 between Eastville Rovers and Hereford Thistle. You will also have access to nearly 5000 photos of programmes of Rovers matches from the very old to the very new.

Other special features highlight the club’s Formative Years, where the club’s fascinating early history will soon be available in a fantastic book written by researcher Eric Whitlock. We also have a remembrance page also researched by Eric and dedicated to the 8 Rovers’ players who gave their lives in World War 1.

There is an evolving exhibition page featuring stories and memorabilia of Rovers over the years with the first feature looking at Rovers run to the FA Cup 6th Round in 1950/1 that took in 11 matches ending with defeat by Newcastle United after holding them to a draw at St James Park.

Finally, each page links to the Bristol Rovers Heritage Society website that contains a wealth of further information put together by researchers and collectors over time.

We will add to the museum on a continual basis and in time we plan is to feature your collections as part of the museum so do keep checking us out.
